xo stories from around the world

The XO Laptops have been distributed to several governments and organisations who have shown interest and agreed to pilot the project in their respective nations.

In this section, we present a collection of stories: a few facts, journal excerpts in first person and photos from these nations. These stories are experiences of various people involved directly or indirectly with OLPC projects - children, teachers, volunteers, implementers and in some cases, even people who have simply bought the XO for their own use.

They are small, interesting vignettes that we hope will touch you and encourage you to participate in the programme.

children and the xo

Our first story book contains observed and documented instances of how OLPC and the XO have had a positive influence on the lives of the children who are a part of the program.

As Carla (Carla Gomez-Monroy, OLPC Deployment Specialist) succinctly puts it: “The OLPC project gave place to an environment, created by and for the child, which fostered learning in a more motivating and significant way than had previously been the case. The experiences and incidents presented here have to do with personal motivation, inter-personal relationships, and community impact, with a positive influence on the children, teachers, school, and the whole community, as well as on us, the implementing team.”

The stories are in no particular order. Each one is just a double-spread long. You can jump to any page and read it in any order you like... we hope you enjoy them! »
